Football Recap: Broncos Mount Fourth-Quarter Comeback Against Philadelphia, Ravens Endure Record Home Loss

Denver Broncos 21–17 Philadelphia Eagles

Bo Nix found a short scoring throw and the running back contributed a two-yard rushing score in the final period as the Denver Broncos erased a 14-point deficit to hand the Eagles their initial defeat of the campaign. Denver's defense batted down Jalen Hurts' final pass on the contest's last snap to send the reigning title holders to just their second defeat in their previous 22 outings. Denver (3-2) caught a huge break in their rally when the Philadelphia had a crucial play called back on an illegal shift penalty called on star ball carrier Barkley.

Houston Texans 44–10 Baltimore Ravens

Houston's quarterback passed for 244 passing yards and four touchdowns, and the Texans (2-3) cruised to a 44-10 win over a depleted Baltimore team, equaling both the biggest away victory in Texans' history and the most lopsided home loss in Baltimore's annals. Baltimore (one win and four losses) were without star signal-caller Jackson, and that was not their only problem. Key defenders multiple defensive leaders all missed the game, and the Baltimore already were weakened on defense because of a cervical issue that ended Nnamdi Madubuike's season. Baltimore were also missing All-Pro fullback Patrick Ricard and tackle Ronnie Stanley.

Colts Rout Raiders in One-Sided Affair

Jonathan Taylor ran for three rushing scores and a two-pointer, and Daniel Jones passed for two scoring throws as the Colts overwhelmed the Raiders. The 34-point margin was Indianapolis' largest since 2013. The quarterback completed 20 of 29 for 212 yards and moved to 4-1 as a starter this season, surpassing his combined victory total over the previous two years with the New York Giants. Taylor carried 17 attempts for 66 yards and grabbed three receptions for 20 yards. Indianapolis converted a blocked punt, two interceptions and a turnover on downs into TDs. The Raiders dropped to 4-1.

Cowboys Soar Past Jets in High-Scoring Game

Dallas' quarterback threw four touchdown passes, leading the Cowboys to a comfortable win over the New York Jets. Dallas put points on the board on two 90-yard drives in the second period, even with missing four starters on the blocking unit. Javonte Williams gained 135 yards and a touchdown and also caught a TD pass. Dallas, now 2-2-1, rebounded from a high-scoring draw against Green Bay last week. The Jets remain winless at zero wins and five losses in their new coach's inaugural year as the leader.

Vikings Edge Browns in London Thriller

Vikings receiver Addison caught a short scoring reception from the quarterback with 25 seconds remaining to give the Vikings victory over the Cleveland Browns at the UK venue. This methodical march gave the Vikings (three wins and two losses) a crucial victory on their historic international road trip, which started with a 24-21 loss to the Pittsburgh in Dublin last week. It also spoiled the rookie's first NFL start, as the Browns first-year player put his team (one win and four losses) in position to win by passing for two touchdown passes. Fellow rookie Quinshon Judkins gained 110 rushing yards on 23 carries. The quarterback shook off an arm issue that briefly sent him to the locker room and directed two scoring drives in the latter half.

Miami Dolphins 24-27 Carolina Panthers

Carolina's quarterback passed for two touchdowns and the running back ran for 206 yards and a score as the Panthers rallied past the Dolphins in Charlotte. Young's short pass to rookie tight end Mitchell Evans with 1:59 to play gave the Panthers (2-3) the lead for good as they equaled the biggest rally to win a game in team history by erasing a 17-point hole. The QB had a horrific first quarter, but he ended up 19-for-30 passing for 198 passing yards with one pick. Dowdle, replacing the sidelined starter, did his work on the ground on 23 attempts, coming up four yards of matching the single-game franchise rushing record. The Dolphins' quarterback completed 27 of 36 for 256 yards with three touchdowns and receiver Waddle gained 110 yards through the air on six receptions and scored a touchdown, but the Miami (1-4) fell to 0-3 in away contests.

New York Giants 14–26 New Orleans Saints

New Orleans' quarterback passed for an 87-yard touchdown to Rashid Shaheed, defensive back Howden scooped up a loose ball the length of the field for a score, and the Saints beat the turnover-prone New York Giants for the Saints' initial win under rookie coach Kellen Moore. Rattler secured his maiden win in 11 professional starts, throwing for 225 yards without any mistakes. Giants rookie QB Jaxson Dart, who won his debut last week, threw for 202 passing yards and two scores, but also turned the ball over on three occasions. New York gave up possession on five separate plays in all, with none worse than when Bryan Bresee stripped ball carrier Skattebo, leading to the safety's TD. Each squad are one win and four losses.
